land below the wind~

december has come to a gentle ending where the year of 2008, there's been lots of changes happening around life here. being staying away from malaysia for almost 10 months, missing contact of malaysian's sun, rain and air but somehow, i don't really miss the food there yet as much as others. maybe i already accepted that i wont be tasting any of them for the next 20 months after i leave the country. after all, cooking my own meals here almost makes it taste like home anyway. somehow i feel that those people that really says they can't find good food in adelaide is kinda over reacting. those that say's adelaide is boring and can't wait to leave here, is also over reacting.

nevertheless, i came from a place where many would say its a 'jungle' yet i am also a frequent traveller back to the pearl of the orient. i would say i experienced what a developed place and underdeveloped place looks like. recently i receive an email that basically tells the story on how the state i grow up in was being marginalised by others. nevertheless, that place thought me that we could make many things out of what we have and the grass is not always greener on the other side. the town i grow up in have no night life, the cinema was only 2 years old, we don't have any shopping complex nor place that sells branded clothes. we have no white beaches or five star hotels or resorts. yet we have an airport big enough to land 737's and is accepting flights from Philippines as well. We also have the one of the few sanctuaries that house the near extinct orang utan. a turtle nesting ground is only a few minutes boat ride from the town im staying.

i remembered that our power supply and water was constantly cut. thought i lived in a terrace house, i experience studying by the candle light and taking bath tru pails of water. i enjoy those moments where we could play with the melted wax and make shapes out of it. i constantly held my laughter silently when i hear people in 'bigger' cities never know how to use a match stick. i stayed in a housing area where in the evenings people will go out to play and jog around the park. there we still see kids chasing each other along the road without worrying about the cars and no over protective parents treating everyone on the road as criminals hiding their child from the sun as have our own security guard on partol every hour around the housing estate. yet we have full access of the Internet, and we also do stuff what other kids in larger cities do with their computers such as playing online games, downloading movies, and not to mention blogging. we have the same internet access as larger cities in my country.. we also have astro services and also those 'large-satellite-dish receivers' operating around. what makes you more advance than us anyway??

i went to a primary school in a building with a huge crack on the floor at the back, predicted to collapse soon, yet the building is still standing today, and the crack is still visible till this very minute. my school don't have a football field, or a big car park, situated next to graveyards and was apparently used as a hospital during the WW2. yet, we love our school very much. we have 7 cubicles for guys and about 8-10 for girls shared by almost 1000+ students. the toilet was only recently given a brighter tiles 4 years ago. 2 of the roads to our school are always at risk of landslide during rainy sessions and the other access is only a 2 lane road which will be pack with school buses and parents cars during the end of the day. given all this circumstances in a city, i wonder if anybody still wants go come to our school to study. yet our school was the best school with the most top scorers in my town at least during my time. many got scholarships and studying overseas in fields such as medicine and engineering.

with all the shortcomings in the town i grew up with, we learn something most of us never had the chance to do so. we learn how to compromise, how to make the best of everything and learn how to give and take from each other. best parts of all, we experience jungle tracking right behind our school, a 6 hour hike from our school to the housing estate I'm living in, which includes real jungle experience without a walking trail, into rivers, and also to go down a 3 story high cliff. this trail was 'open' by our school's scout team. we experience starry nights during blackouts, we experience candle light dinner with family, with the sound of cricket and other insects accompany us and not the sound of the TVB drama behind.

the place i grew up in wasn't the place i was born in. yet i like that place very much. there are so many things to do there. its not that i don't like the pearl of the orient. i love the island very much too, but both have their specialities to be love. for those that says sabah is uncivilised, please check the internet you are so proud of for the real facts. if u see sabah there, u see that we also have access to the internet. just to let you know, people in adelaide knows where is north borneo(sabah) much more better than where is malaysia. and you want to know how i let people know where im from?? 'im a malaysian from north borneo...'

hmm.. im sorry that this sounds like a hate post... =/

bits n pieces of dec

right, exams are over, and the dreadful wait for results are here. i guess, everything should be fine right. sometimes i really wonder, whether wishing each other all the best really make a significant sign in the exam results. is that the more people that wish you 'all the best' would lower the probability of you doing badly in exams?? sound superstitious thou, nevertheless, i guess one wishing another all the best in one of the most stressful situation in life will not bring much harm right?

holidays have begun, and most of my friends are already back in malaysia. saturday night, i was rushing for one of the big projects me and my friends made for other friends. looking back into the project, i realised that i already start to miss them. there are a few that i have been seeing them for the past month almost daily. through the weekly gathering, random beach outings, group studying and so on. well, i've already being prepared that i'm not going back this year, and already have plans for the 3 months break, somehow still can't ignore the fact that i am going to miss them. and guess what, i already miss them already =.=

another thing is, i guess i have no fate in group trips. since form 3, i never join a group trip with my friends, i have no idea why that happens, every year, there are trips planed by my friends, i really wish to go and really love to join them, yet, somehow something prevented me to do so. form 3 was a trip to climb mt kinabalu, form 4 was a camping trip, form 5 *cant remember* 2006, *can't remember* and 2o07 was a KK trip... i guess, im kinda immune to tell people, "oh im sorry i can't join you all.. i (inserts reason). i will join another time okay??" i really wonder whether there is another time. there is also a trip early next year where group of my friends will be going along west malaysia, but i wont be around as well. i guess, i have really no fate on going on trips with my friends. sigh~ nevertheless, i wish they will enjoy themselves and have fun. yet be careful and take care always.

right.. Christmas is here, and parents will be popping over this saturday. so i guess december will be quite occupied. not forgetting the 2 jobs i have in line now. i wonder how im suppose to balance all of them.. hahaha.. well, i guess i will somehow. plans for the holiday?? will be exploring adelaide with my parents, work, drown myself with anime and drama and i guess, maybe learn abit of chinese right?? after all, im a 'semi banana' now.. and should upgrade to a 'one quarter banana' already. hahaha.. till then, short updates from me..

oh, i will be cleaning my blog links soon, so those links that i can't gain access will be.. erm.. 'put aside' so yea, let me know if the links are functioning okay.. *thou i don't think any1 will do so..*

Houseflies~

as spring arrives and temperature hits above 27 degrees, its interesting that there are amazingly plenty of housefly flying around in adeaide. and interestingly as well, these houseflies are just like thermometers.. if the temperature is below 25 degrees, you wont even see one of them around and if temperature increases, the hotter it goes, the more housefly there are. these houseflies are basically irritating, stupid and erm... slow. nevertheless, they are all really irritating if they keep flying around you. EVEN when you get a nice shower and you smell like a garden of flowers they will still fly to you.

looking at the number of housefly around, you will notice men and women practicing all kinds of methods to swap them away... below are the list that kinda exist

Thousand Arms Buddha Housefly Shield
Although there are only 2 arms in every human, if there are a large number of housefly this method is highly recommended. by moving your arms randomly in a very fast motion, in all directions, you can almost swap all the houseflies away into your surroundings. not only houseflies, all other movable living organisms especially humans will also move away in fear of this highly specialize martial art. this thousand arms buddha housefly shield also can be use if you only have one arm that is free. just move the free arm twice as fast and twice as random to have the same effect.

Tai Chi Housefly Kung-fu
a slow and gracious yet lethal to housefly move which usually guarantee peace from houseflies. usually most effective if there is only one housefly around. by moving your hand gracefully and slowly near to the housefly and with a sudden increase speed and power, whack the housefly away. this usually causes the housefly to lose the flight path and hit to something solid and fall to the floor. effective when you are sitting in a fix position and by hitting the housefly to the near by wall or table, it will for sure not disturb you for the 2nd time. Or, if you have mastered this kung fu, you can aim the housefly at someone near by and hit it across the room into another person's face. practice needed for aim and accuracy.

The Venous Fly Trap.
by the name, its quite similar to the carnivorous plant where a trap is laid to trap/kill the housefly. so what kind of trap can be laid?? well, these trap (like the venous fly trap) must have a hinge that allow 2 surfaces to contact in the middle. my recommendation is a book.. a think hard cover book. open the book at about middle... and hold it right in front of you with a hand on each side of the cover.. once a housefly flies over the page.... SNAP~ and you will have a dead housefly with you in that page. *warning* flatten houseflies produce lots of 'juices' so.. beware. recommended that you have lots of patients and a moderate number of houseflies around. library books are recomended (since its not your book anyway =x)

Chemical Warfare
this method is more of a preventative measure than to kill itself. basically we will be using chemicals to prevent houseflies to get around us. and we are going to use chemicals that could be easily bought over the counter. Insect repellents have been proven functional in preventing house flies from attaching on your clothes and skin. just spray some on to the clothes or apply them to the skin and you could walk freely without being bothered by those flies. the good side is, others wont think you are crazy waving your hands around the street, but, on the other side, if you are going to a date, or an important meeting, try not to use this method as it also carries a strong insect repellent smell along. and depending on the type n brand you use, usually it last about 2 to 3 hours depending on conditions. recommended right before going out of the house on a very warm day.

The Blow Fish Method.
this method is recommended when you have your hands full. as houseflies are small animals, they are easily being blown away by a small amount of air. this method allows you to remove the housefly quite easily. if you see a housefly flying around, and land on your nose, shape your lips and blow a short and strong gust of air towards it. this can also be if the housefly landed on other parts of the body (hands, lips, maybe forehead) or also on places like your notes and your coffee mug. just aim and blow towards the housefly and the housefly will be gone~ if you are good, you can also blow the housefly off course mid air *training needed*. recommended for a small amount of housefly and only for people with a large lung capacity. not recommend for those with respiratory disorders.

there are a few more not so popular methods around, but strongly recomended these 5 methods above.. have fun trying =)

disclaimer note: writer will not be responsible for any injuries/accidents/anything-bad-happen to users of the methods describe above.

p/s: no houseflies are harm in the production of this post.

nov to nov~

HIAAAAAaaaaAAAaaKKKKKKkkkKKKkKkKK!!!!!!
my 1st paper is tomorrow!!!!! in less than 22 hours time, i will be starting my 2nd sem final exams.. which marks the end of my 2nd sem study period. of course if everything goes well that is. *fingers cross* *toes cross* *eyes cross*

thinking back, throughout this year... its already 9 months im in adelaide.. kinda fast huh?? still quite clearly remember the last november at this particular time, i was rushing to finish my workshop teaching materials, shopping, preparing the booklets and all the preparations to face 22 primary school students... now, i guess the oldest ones already finish their 1st government exams.. the UPSR and preparing to enter the what i call, one of the best times of their lifes.. secondary school.. sure sounds fun huh?? oh.. in fact, their results are already out.. wonder how did they go.. hmmm...

secondary school for me is 8 years ago.. makes me sounds so old.. 8 years ago.. im still a short think guy.. running all over the school... jumping from stairs, crawling under tables, shouting on top of my lungs, and.. of course.. not doing home works.. haha.. naughty me.. moving up, form 3 and form 5, i took quite a number of responsibilities in class (best class cleanliness monitor.. right gang??) as well as my uniform body.. which i should say.. played an important role in shaping what im now.. of course.. the other part that shaped me is the way my parents brought me and my brother up.. sure that played a very important role in bringing what i am now. nevertheless, im quite happy with what i have now.. thou there are short coming of myself, but i guess, I'll manage myself with and around them..

anyway, better end this random post here... break time over... =). oh.. and dats a pic that shows the difference between the 8 of the keboringanz members.. spot me.. and let me know if i change ya?? hahahaha. next post will most probably after the 26th Nov. till then~

p/s: volunteers to wake me up tomorrow at 7 please??? 7 adelaide time.. haha

you know when ur tired when~

you know you are tired when:
~you made the uni library you 2nd home for the past 3 days..
~you made good friends with the yellow and green highlighters...
~your daily intake of fluid are from the uni water sources.... *which includes coffee*
~you start locking people outside your study area in the cold because its too tired for you to open the door for them...
~u rather walk back from uni than waiting for the bus/tram because you can't wait anymore longer before trashing onto bed
~you walk so fast that you over take so many people for the same reason above.
~you start to ignore everyone on your instant messaging list
~your writing changes from round single letters to long-worm-like words
~you rather use the touch pad than the external mouse because you are unable to leave your palm off the table.
~you feel that your stomach is like a washing machine as your meals are all not as normal as before... or is it because of the coffee...
~you keep looking for the the heart structure in the kidney chapter in the textbook. and wonders why the heart looks like a bean and not like the usual ones...
~you stand at the pedestrian crossing even the light is green and keep wondering why all the cars stop and everyone is crossing the road.
~you sigh so much that your study mates around you turn blue and pale as they are unable to breath due to the high concentration of carbon dioxide you produce from all the 'sigh-ing' sessions
~you make conversations between two textbooks using their authors as names and introducing them to each other such as.. "tortora, meet martini...." (both are physiology textbooks)
~you cant be bothered to have better meals that you just eat what ever that is reachable by your extended arms
~you make coffee drinking a religion and drinking cupS of them per day shows that you are loyal to it. and you fall in love with the coffee vending machine.....
~you file a divorce towards you laptop/facebook/msn
~you will find time to sleep such as while waiting for the tram, boarding the tram, in the tram and leaving the tram.. all with the eyes close.. or at lease half close.
~~yyoouu sseeee ddoouubbllee lleetteerrss wwhheenn yyoouu rreeaadd yyoouurr nnootteess...
~yyoouu wwiillll ffaallll aasslleepp wwhhiilleeeeeeeeeee blooooooooo

the orange

sigh~
there is no exact way to describe life now. there are good moments yet, there are times when you wish for better moments to happen yet... nothing happens. and when there are better moments you thought that will be the best, yet the moment went by so quickly that you wont be able to enjoy that moment. exams are in the corner, holidays are coming, summer is coming, and so on, yet, the excitement isn't there. motivation is what i really need now. there are many flaws in this half of the year. being attached to so many things and also people isn't really a good thing. yet, not being attach is just like a floating spirit floating around pointlessly.....

is not that im against exams and stuff, i know exams sucks, and yes it sucks worst when there are USELESS un important subjects to be tested. what sucks the most is when there are 2 un-important subjects to be tested back to back after my anatomy paper!!! i really wonder how they arranged the exam time table, its either they are really smart or they are really ill-hearted and wish to see how all of us die horribly with our brain juice leaks out through all the orifices in our heads. thinking about it, i think i will be a walking brainless podiatry student by the end of my exams... and all my brain can be found in my exam scripts.

if i were to describe life now, i would say, its kinda blank. is not that its stagnant or something, is just that i can't really see the point the stuff im doing everyday at the moment. well, others might look at my life now as kinda good, uni, out with friends, sports, games, meals, home, study etc etc... is not that they are all pointless, i love going out with my friends, playing sports, go on jogging n stuff, but, i guess, the thought that exams are there just splash everything out. exams are really joy killers... they really are~ isn't it sad?

right.. im not the only one having exams.. everyone is.. so suck everything up and stop complaining right?? i guess so.. anyhow, i came across this relaxation method through 1 of my un-important(TOTALLY NOT IMPORTANT) subject's lecture earlier in this semester. its called Five Finger Relaxation Technique. there are 4 questions to be answered. and it only takes about 2 or 3 minutes to go through.. apparently its useful right before the exams while waiting for the exams to start.

blogging its been so hard lately, maybe im trying too hard to think of something to blog about. blogging should not be a commitment, and by right should be done freely, i guess, i am deviating from that point now... thinking too much, why can life be much more simpler at times?? sigh~

sigh, another random post. i guess i will keep quiet for the time being.., im not in a mood to produce a happier post this time..... best wishes to those that are taking exams soon, and for those that are crashing their assignments, all the best as well... i guess, all of us needs them =)
