been a long while that i had blog about my life here in adelaide.. maybe some people out there could piece together information about me currently from small tiny bits n pieces of information here n there.. hehe..
its now been 1 and a half years that i not been to malaysia. the next time i go back.. maybe i will be a tourist more than going home. haha.. a malaysian friend of mine once said, once u been in adelaide for a long time, and when u go back to malaysia, u will do what normal australian tourist do like taking pictures on all the food u eat back home. hmm.. maybe i will do that when i go back.
so what have i done throughout the whole winter??
somehow i find this question pretty easy to answer for this holidays.. one word.. work
so ur pretty rich now hey??
nope.. still as poor as usual.
since my last paper on a saturday, i officially have 3 weeks holidays for my winter break before the start of a new semester. most of the time i have i spend working in my part time jobs. being paid lower than a 18 year old's pay rate... anyway.. better to have a job than nothing to do right?? a bit about my work here..
currently im working 2 part times in adelaide.. both also a walking distance from my home, which is good.. and i consider myself lucky to have them. one of the is in a restaurant as a kitchen hand.. and what i do is basically everything in the kitchen including cooking.. yes i do prepare food in the kitchen.. surprisingly i find working there pretty fun, while others thinks that in the kitchen is a hell's hole where the boss uses u to your limits to maximise his profit, as for me, i would put it that, the boss has his expectations and u should work towards it, and maybe better.. not trying to cut corners because ur being lazy or something. after all, food is still an essential part of life right?? and ur preparing the essential part of life, isn't that something you should be proud of? oh yea.. u deal with all the dirty plates, half eaten food and all.. yet, if u think of it, u did prepare the food in the 1st place, so what, if ur gross out about the food u prepare, why prepare it then?? right??
okay.. 2nd job. officially im name as a lab technician. but, this lab doesn't deal with any test tube, or syringe or blood products or chemicals u normally find in any science lab. the lab im working in is actually more like a workshop. we have grinders, ovens, saw, n compressors.. and lots of plastics and plenty more dust!! yay~~~ ahem.. back to the point.. this lab produces orthortics (something u put into shoes to correct your walking patten). and yes, i make orthotics.. fun part of this job is... i can listen to my own music while working, start and finish work when ever i feel like it, and i basically work alone.. not that i love working alone.. but then working alone allows you to practice your vocal skills, and the sound of the grinder will shadow your voice from being heard. haha.. in saying that, this job requires accuracy to the millimeter of measurement in making the cast, understanding thermodynamics of plastics, good artistic skills, good eye judgement, moulding skills with clay type material as well as a very very quick reaction.
as many of my friends here notice, both jobs involve high risk of injury of the upper limbs... my hands are loaded with scars marks.. pretty ugly now. *sorry mum n dad =(* but overall, it doesn't carry much after work thoughts. everything about work will basically disappear once i leave the place, therefore its pretty much worry free jobs. so i guess i could say i love my work. so much so that i think my bosses likes me a lot.. which isn't a very good thing for me... i always want to tell them.. 'I'm a lousy worker.. don't put so high hopes on me!!!' but no.... they keep saying I'm great, and increase the pay pretty quickly when i started till the maximum level now.. so isn't that a good thing?? hmmm... maybe not..
now u might be thinking... hey.. aren't u suppose to be in adelaide to study and not work?? of coz im here to study, priority of coz will be given to studies n classes and all.. and of course my full time occupation now is a student =) and no im not a workaholic.. and yes, i love going to uni =) after all uni is the place the real fun work is =) assignments and exams, and chance to make people bleed and walk away with it all in the name of student =)
and yes.. im crazy hahaha...
