the orange ~ weekly

Its been awhile i start listening to lectures and things like that. my previous lecture was erm.. 8 months ago, right before my a-level exams. from that date, i have never been to any lecturers or to have any input into my brain. my concentration level drop and also my ability to absorb information has decrease dramatically..
.
anyway, for 1st time in my life, i am having only 24 people in my class. there are only 25, if i am not wrong, podiatry students for the 2008 intake. small group huh?? good thing is, there are 2 malaysians, studying podiatry.. one of them is me. haha.. others will be australians. I did manage to talk to a few course mates. friendly people so far. haha..
.
our program director had brief us on what will we be looking at for the next 4 years... and she added that we will be useful to friends and family by our second year. So if are dying to ask me anything about your foot(which i hope not) please hold till the end of 2009. haha.. basically in year 1, there are more on basic stuff like knowing parts of the feet leg and hips. and by knowing means knowing the names and function of every single thing in the leg. and the leg is not a small part of the body..... lots to memorize.... on the bright side, we are going to have dead man's legs to be cut apart. and we are going to do that in Adelaide Uni's medical school!!!
.
apart from uni's stuff, my days here has been good, coping with the language australians use. man... aussie english is so different from the ones i learn. there are so many terminologies to understand. maybe one day i will blog with aussie english and see you guys understand what i am trying to say then. hahaha.. but with the big group of aussie course mates, i think i will pick their language by year end.
.
lessons will start next monday and this week is my last week of holidays before a sem break in april. Overall, i will be looking forward for my new beginning. as for this blog, i hope something fresh and new will appear here. i realise that post lately is kinda bored and un-interesting. which shows my life here is bored and un-interesting.. oh wait.. life is good here.. but i will have to control stuff publish here due to some reasons... i will be free to tell you through other means of communications =)
.
p/s: anyone has emo bug and lame bug repellent?? pass some to me.. thanks =)

[untitled]

by the main couse of boredom, i went to visit kenny's blog.. and i accidentally click on his links there.. and again i found another link and click on it.. and i saw this story
a love story

in this story, its about a poor guy that recieve kindness from others and then shares them with the rest, although many knows that he needed the help more than others. i am not sure wheater its a real story. but being in this world, there are always angles in every corner....

when was the last time you smile at a stranger? when was the last time u say please and thank you to a shop assistant?? when was the last time u held a door open or move a side so an elderly or handicap can move easier? when was the last time you thought doing something to make the world a better place??

yesterday?? 2 days ago?? last week?? last 2 weeks?? last month?? or you don't remember..

we are not living in exams, and there are no one to judge you when u made someone happy. or there might not be returns for the happines you gave out generously. some might say thank you and put you in their daily prayer. some might just be too occupied with their own life and never notice you, some might just don't care what is happening at all. you might never feel anything, or maybe slightly happier that you help someone, or maybe you feel sad.. because you expect something in return...

Sometimes........ somewhere in the future.....

many blood sucking creatures....

lets take a break from adelaide and go back to malaysia.
although i have leave malaysia for almost 2 weeks, i have been trying to update myself with the upcoming election. amazingly, information never is hard to come. with the powers of the internet, news are available instantly.

long ago, when i 1st remember about election, long tall red rockets are reacted at junctions, town centers and all over the place. my mum always tell me to see... "see the rocket there.." and sticking my face to the car window, i will go.. "wha..." i never know whats about politics, or even care about it. then, 4 years later, during the next election, people are giving many things for free. rice, stationeries, dictionaries, and of course lots of 'junk-mail' in the letter box. there are also those sign boards all over town, with a face and a big cross next to it. that time, i don't understand "why cross??" isn't a cross a bad symbol?? i won't want teachers to cross next to my picture.

fast forward many years later when internet are available and i started getting myself to know about all this news around malaysia and the world. i have realise that, internet has now become a medium to start campaigning for opposition parties. i am not sure about the gouverment parties about participating in internet campaigning, but its obvious that oppositions are in full gear to maximise the use of the internet.

i know that, malaysian gov are 'anti-bloggers' therefore, i am standing on the fence. some might say unfairness or not transparent enough or what ever crap they can think of... but i will just keep them to myself and observe from the side lines... i won't want to be caught in between the cross fire and die on field.. hahahaha who knows, when those 'level-4' people find something out of this... then i will be in trouble right?? hahaha.. anyway, i had been discussing with a few of my friends about the current condition of the country. i came up to a conclusion that the upcoming election will be an interesting one. who knows..... something big might happen.. looking forward to more news =)

p/s: i fed kangaroos and touched a koala bear today =) =) =)

the orange ~ not weekly

so sorry for the lack of post. i am now still currently trying to grow roots into the ground and also blending into the people here.
.
intro~
overall, adelaide is student friendly place. i have already met up people as close as a sabahan, a few penangait to as far as an iranian couple, korean guy, indian people, hongkies, europeans to people from US. its kinda wonderful blend especially when everyone is under the same umbrella, international students. I still remember the time when i was known as Out Station Students... now i am Overseas student. macam naik pangkat.. hahaha.. well, like last time, more effort is being place by the uni to ensure all oversea students(OS) are well adapted. and by well adapted, they made us me to walk 30 minutes for the past 3 days to another campus for a special OS orientation program.
.
~transporting self~
Walking is a way of life here. everyone walks. hot or cold everyone walks to one place to another. the better ones will cycle. and of course there are skateboarders too. busses here are very systematic which i have got get use to. in malaysia, all i have to do is to just go to the bus stop and board anyone of them. while here, i have to read the time table, the bus number, and also think which bus route to take. kinda complicated especially when their time tables are so small printed at bus stops. there is also free buses available call the 'connectors'. BUT this buses are not really punctual. overall, all bus drivers here will greet you when u board the bus with a simple 'hi/hello' or ' how r ya(yeah)?'
.
~my humble house
i am living in a 2 bedroom, kitchen, living hall, and an un-used fireplace house. kinda small and cozy comparing to the double story semi-detach house in KK. anyhow, people here are friendly and warm. no.. no home sick yet. Uni is just a 15 walk away from my house. on the way to uni, i will walk pass adelaide's zoo, a river, botanical gardens, a medical school, a dental hospital and Uni of Adelaide. and is about 20 minutes walk to the city of adelaide. so, location wise, its a very convenient place for me. =)
.
~fellow homo sapiens
wow... i am really impress by the australians here. super friendly. forget about so call friendly people in malaysia. oh wait.. i am a malaysian... anyway.. locals here are very friendly and its kinda shocking to see that they might just penetrate your space bubble(not personal space yet) in just no time. talk about feeling a warm welcome. haha.. people here likes to smile and ask 'how r ya" and also use 'no worries' instead of 'you are welcome' takes some time to adapt to all this things.. but then, for the past week, i have not met any mean people yet. hehehe
.
~ i, me, and myself
well, back to student life again. cook, laundry, clean up, messy room, messy table... bla bla bla... life here is so far great. just that there are a few things to get use to which are drinking directly from the tap. yes.. we don't have to boil water here... so basically, we can get drinking water in the toilets.... but water here taste a little salty. so.. instant 100 plus anyone?? cool huh?? hahaha.. other than that, i have been hearing perfect english everywhere i go. not to hard to adapt to that since i am an english speaker myself... just that i am polluted with manglish, singlish, englay(english + malay), cantoerine (cantonese + mandarine), mandaka(mandarine + hakka) and erm... too much to list.... and many more.. kinda miss those bah n lah n stuff like that. and I HAVE TO CUT DOWN ON USAGE OF THOSE TOO =)
.
official Uni orientation will start next week where i will meet all my other course mates in the podiatry couse. i am looking forward to be one of the 2 OS that are enrol into that couse.. *winks*
.
oh btw.. although weather here can reach up to 38 degrees, you won't sweat much.
no swt emoticon ==> -.-
emoticon sweats ==> -.-''
emoticon sweats heavily ==> -.-!!!
adelaide has dry air... so sweat evaporate very fast....
therefore i invented...
.

.
presenting new swt emoticon ==> -.-^^^
wanna know whats that??
'^^^' means the swt evaporated. therefore, sharp side pointing upwards...

arival & day 1~ adelaide

after disembarking the plane, all passengers have to go through immigration and get their passport stamp. immigrations officers were friendly and efficient. i realise there are many security personels working there were females, comparing to those in malaysia. No cameras are aloud in this area. after the immigration counters, i proceded to get my cargo bags. there, there is a sniffer dog that walk agound the place sniffing bags for plants and food products. after getting my bags, i then proceed to the customs where they scanned my bag again, and took my declaration form. they let me go as there were nothing suspisious found from my bag... hahaha

i was warmly welcome by the UniSA reception group and was given a short info about adelaide and things like that. then waited for other UniSA students to come out, and then off we go =) 3 other 3rd year pharmasist students were in the same car as me to our houses in different locations. temperature in adelaide the day i landed was at about 20-21 degrees, which makes you feel like you are walking in a air con room. here, in the buildings are actually warmer than the out side. totally opposite from malaysia... hahaha.. these were taken from the car....

"chinese" like arch

a street, and electrict poles

very beautiful church building.. plenty in adelaide =)

a mall in the city

the van that took us home from the airport

random buildings...

central market, where u get all your wet groceries

people waiting for the light to turn green before crossing
never happen in malaysia

more random buildings

i reach home and saw my brother, then i settle down, and sleep. Since my brother has classes, therefore i got his bed. hahaha.. i woke up 5 hours later, and then, prepare to go out for dinner. Usually, everyone will cook for dinner, but then since there is nothing in the fridge, therefore, all of them decided to go for dinner in the city. i got the chance to explore adelaide. i must say, walking in adelaide is so very much safer than in malaysia. foot and bicycle path are all over the place. and also is very handicap friendly too =) i have already seen many blind people walking and alot of wheelchair users around adelaide city. back to dinner trip. walking in the evening is kinda cold especially when the wind is blowing, but when there is no wind, its okay.

once we reach the restaurant, i guess my face kinda dried up.. there is like some weired feeling there.. lips are usually dry, but drinking water helps.. anyway, went to a chinese restaurant and had dinner. not too bad.. the food is nice and i get to eat kangaroo meat =) had a wonderful dinner. btw.. the sky is still bright although its 8 p.m. because its summer now.. it darkens earlier when its winter.

reach home again at about 9, and then bath and call mum n aunt. jus to let them know i am alive and made it to adelaide all and well, and then call it a night. =)

pre arrival~adelaide

location: sandakan international airport,
date: 11/02/2008
weather in sandakan during my departure was wet and cloudy. it was raining heavily the night before and on that day itself, the weather didn't seems to clear even a little. i guess bad weather cause my sandakan-KL flight to delayed for about 35 minutes. I checked in with 36.5 Kg of bags =S, and got away with the 6.5kg of excess weight =) hahahaha... lucky me. maybe sandakan airport is not that strict with the baggage issues. my hand carry items was my laptop and a trolly bag. MH 2709 took off gracefully at approx. 3.10P.M to KL via KK transit for 40 minutes. Sandakan - KK flight was quite bumpy(weather) and this causes no drinks to be serve. therefore, i got a 40 minutes nap without disturbance on the plane. the plane landed in KK quite rough with strong backthrust and breaks, as the runway is very wet as well due to rain. arrive in kk about 4.00 p.m. and had a 40 minute break to get the pasports stamp. and then continue our flight to KLIA at about 4.50.

location: KK international airport,
date: 11/02/2008
KK - KL flight(MH2709) was quite smooth. had sandwich, an apple, and a cup of tea as in-flight meal. MAS now serve in flight meals in boxes, something like those japannese restaurant rice set box(bento box??). we then landed in KL at about 7. Nothing much with KK- KL flight. safely landed in KLIA terminal and proceed to the transit counter to get my KL- Adelaide boarding pass. after that, my dad n i had dinner at burger king and i proceed to terminal C with the KLIA's train(i don't remember the name). dad then proceed to LCCT to catch his flight to penang. As i arrive at the star building, i went straight to gate C25 but since the gate was not open, i went walking aroud terminal C. and of course, during that time, called my friends. and sms and all the other stuff. i also feed my phone's credit so i can call while i am in adelaide. i didn switch on my laptop due to lack of time to enjoy KLIA's wireless services.

location: KLIA, gate C25, starbuilding
date: 11/02/2008
gate C25 open at 8.30 p.m. After going through another round of security check, and get my boarding pass torn, i went into the gate and waited for the boarding time at 9.45 p.m. recieve calls from mum, dad, cousin, and friends. Board a boeing 777-200 with the sitting arrangement of 2-5-2 and i manage to get an aisle seat(38H). i was siting with the Adelaide Crows, a football team and chatted with 2 of their players. they had a game in Dubai and had a night in KL before going back to adelaide. Nope, i didn't had any pictures with them, and no i didn't get their signatures. MH139 took off at approx 10.00 p.m. My flight was quite full.

location: in the end belly of MH139, [Boeing 777 - 200]
date: 11/02/2008
the flight to adelaide takes approx 6 hours and 38 minutes, which fly pass indonesia, south-west direction straight to adelaide. in flight, i watch 2 episodes of CSI, 1 episode of Dr House and 1 movie(gameplan). Late dinner was serve at approx 11.00 p.m. and early breakfast was serve at about 3.00 a.m. heacy turbulence were experience when we flew past indonesia and sitting again right at the back of the plane(38H) maks me feel like i am sitting in a salt shaker being shake for about 2 hours. they had chicken, beef or bow tie pasta for dinner and i choose the pasta since i wasn't hungry at all. after my late dinner and 2 CSI and 1 Dr House, i slept for a while and woke up. then early breakfast is serve, freezer cold muffin and some kind of pastry. had to warm them up with my hands before consuming into my tummy.

air temperature in the plane is quite cold and dry causing me to have some discomfort when i breath with my nose... so i ask for a warm cup of chinese tea.(they serve jasmine tea on-board) to solve my prob, i will just breath the steam from the hot cup of tea. which makes me feel so much better.... hahaha.. i had 2 cups of jasmine tea and 2 cups of 'english' tea. after my early breakfast, i watched gameplane and then slept for another short while. when i woke up, almost the whole plane is awake, which means we are arriving shortly. btw, free flow of beer is serve as well in flight.

i filled up my declaration form and played some in-flight games. a bright light shown through the window indicate that the sun had came out, and i saw adelaide for the 1st time. the 1st thing that came into my mind was.... "Wow.. Adelaide is...... erm.... flat!!!" yeah.. from air, adelaide is a flat piece of land. no hills no mountains... not like sabah, the whole journey you can see the earth going up and down and up and down. after that, the 1st assistant made his speech on behalf of the captain.

location: adelaide international airport runway
date: 12/02/2008
touch down was quite smooth, and we safely arrive at adelaide international airport at about 4.45 a.m. (7.15 adelaide local time). Over all, the flight was quite okay, considering its my 1st international flight out of malaysia.

p/s: will continue with my 1st day in adelaide another time.
p/p/s: not much photos taken during flight due to bad lighting and i am not sitting at a window seat.
p/p/p/s: all time stated is according to malaysian time.

chapter 2~ the end

yikes, the day, i have been waiting for has arrive. its been a 7 agonizing months wait, speding most of my time, trying to not be a waste to society. and its been 2 years i left my secondary school. through out this 2 years, life has been good. so.. to do a short summary on life of this 2 years, i will break them into a few parts.

people.
during this 2 years, i had come in close contact with adults and also small young pupils. spending 1 and a half years in KK allow me to make a few good friends, and extend my social circle to as far as brunei and india. its been a great pleasure to know all of them in KK, the warm welcome and the cheerful hearts shown brightly from their smile is enough to bring life to the dull dul word. of course, not everyone will please you the way u please them. and in this 2 years, i met an amout of people that piss me off too. =) at the end of the 2 years, spending time with a 8 year old kid is really a good training for my patience. now, i dare say i am a more patient person... =)

surroundings
staying in KK in a double story house and my room with a private toilet is a great blessing for me. being able to utilise the whole house without the needs to abide to curfew and rules of the house had made me a more resonsible person. although not much, having a house in your hands is not an easy job.. bills, cleaning, and maintanance, pest control, cook, carpentering, wireing... u name it... we done it. hahaha... after life in KK.. surrounding in sandakan is not much of a difference compare to KK.. jus that sandakan there is a place call home.

experience
there had been tonnes of experience gain for the 2 years. experience makes a person learn from mistakes so that they won't repeat them in the future. the experience of becomng a tuition teacher is priceless. the sense of achivement when your students undertand what you explain really could brighten a day. other than that, priceless experience of working with the school's top brains is way too cool for me. when all the great brains sit together, t really makes me feel like hiding myself away.. nevertheless, great experiennce gain in this 2 years.

okay.. i will make this short. my eyes are barely opening now.
i here by wanna extend a greatest thank you to all your wishes and words of encouragement. i am really touch that you all still wanna spend some time to just think and type those words. really really big thank you and hugggssss for all. take care

i will be leaving to adelaide in 12 hours time. i will try to update when ever possible there. till then..

kRAAaaAAa....PUik

have you see people spit while they are walking on the street??

no?? most probably you are not a malaysian.

last week, a friend of mine was complaining as if hell broke lose about people spitting. In her account, she saw a lorry driver spitting out of her window. And whats worst, the spit almost hit a motorcyclist riding beside. my first reaction was
.
.
.
"orh"
.
.
.
oh wait.. must i have a larger respond?? nah.. i am so use to the scene of people spitting all over the place. so you must be saying.. "HOW CAN YOU STAND PEOPLE SPITTING ALL OVER??"

don't get me wrong. spitting is a gross thing to do. its disgusting, dirty, lame, un-cool and really low class mentality to spit in public. AND NO. I DON'T LIKE PEOPLE SPITING. its kinda a turn down to do so in front of me. I always wonder why people likes to spit all over the road. Its not like spiting makes u look cooler or something.

Smoking has a so call stress relieve function. When smokers stress, they smoke to so call release stress. Some might say, smoking makes a person looks 'MAN' (but i wonder whether can he celebrate 'fathers day' from all the smoking activities). Lets compare this 2 issues with spiting.

IMAGINE-->

senario 1

after working 10 hours per day
"argh i am very stress!!! KARRRRAAAAAAaakkk Puik!!!

ahhh.. i feel better... "

senario 2

"sigh.. i am un-cool. KaRRRAAAArrrrrRrKKKKK pPPUUUUiiiKkkk!!!
a row of girls appear, shouting my name... and adds behind... ORANGE YOU ARE SOOOOOO COOOllLLL!!!! and all of them trying to scoop the spit up...

ewww... gross... =(

and if a girl with the face of zeta jones(voted world most beautiful star') spit?? erm.. do i have to describe here???

moral of the story, smoking is a better stress reliever and also have a higher cool points compare to spiting. after all, the public won't want your DNA all over the street okay??

===========

anyway,

SO HAPPY TODAY!!!! my final 3 hours has pass with out much hassle. MUAHAHAHA.. i am a free man again!!! no more shouting, no more repeating, no more chasing aroud, no more working!!! hahahaha.. muahahahahaha.... wahahahahaha... just can't contend my happiness.. hehehe.. *big-wide-smile*

got a testimonial letter from my boss today. feel so flattered by the words she use.. hehehe.. and also my 1st red packet for the year of the "RAT" from my student's mother. which wants me to work up till tuesday. So.. who wants a 'one-of-the-most-efficient-part-time-tutor"??? open for booking. =)

================

my 1st 3D pop up CNY card.

as to follow my family tradition, i made CNY cards to all family members with the help of my bro tru webcam. and the out come.... a mouse pop up card. Its so much more simple compare to those cards me and my bro design many many years back. hahaha.. wonder if i still can see our creations back then....

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!

today... i officially declare myself too old to play basketball!!! why?? because i am 20 this year... sigh =( hahahaha.. the point is, 2 weeks ago, i am losing my touch on basketball. have been injured in several parts of the body(no worries nothing serious) from all the games in basketball courts. SO i declare myself too old to play. =) but, who ever that declare themselves like me, too old, can join me in for a game of two.. hehehe

last sunday and monday, i was so tired and sleepy that i fell asleep infront of my lappy. and in that time, i was also chating with some people(4 people) in MSN. I didn know what did i type to them.. So erm... i guess i was just hitting some codes into the keyboard. hehehe.. i think amelia was one of them. I hope secrets leak out that time.. =x

okie.. dats all for now.. replies of comments

buses....

dear Mr Bus driver,

How are you feeling today? i hope u had a good drive before. I am sure your job is very stressful and stamina taxing. carrying over 40 to 50 and more people behind you while u drive. and i really appreciate your profession. rushing to meet with the time, driving tru all the roads and cars, and making sure everyone reach their destination without anyone saying thank you might makes you feel you are not appreciated. Don't worry, you are always appreciated by all walks of life. or, at least i do..

Mr bus driver, i am sure u heard about the accident at slim river perak, on the 25th of January 2008 that got 3 people killed. and also the incident at Bukit Gantang that killed 22 people in August 2007. this year, 3 people got killed, one of them a future doctor. many people was sadden by the incident. Sad, anger, lost and disappointment is all over the air. Empty promises and vows from the authorities means nothing to many people now. although i am not attached in anyway to those that are affected by the accident, but in the blogsphere, it is clear many were affected deeply.

I am a bus user myself. and every time i board the bus, i never expect anything will happen. After all, being paranoid is not my type. I know accidents do happen and they are beyond all of our control. But, the death of these 25 people is an avoidable death. for me, is not an accident, is an act of murder hiding behind the word 'accident'. Mr bus driver, don't you feel sad when everyone is pointing fingers at you, saying you are a murderer even you didn't do it. I know is unfair to blame all bus drivers about the incident cause by a small handful of inconsiderate, selfish, irresponsible drivers around. I love bus rides. the long undisturbed journeys gives me time to think and reflect. after all, bus rides are cheaper than plane rides right?

Mr bus driver, chinese new year is in the corner. Many family members, son and daughters, fathers and mothers, will use the bus you drive to get home and reunited with their family. Maybe you will want to sit with your family at the reunion dinner together as well. So, just a humble request here, please drive safe for the sake of all. May no more of this tragedy happen as again. So, from a bus user, me to a driver, please drive safely. I don't think the authorities will be doing anything again. Or maybe they will do something untill this issue die down and forget the whole incident. So, is up to you, Mr bus driver, to make a difference. I will be looking forward to my next bus ride some time in the future.

yours truly
orange, a bus user.
===============================================
btw, paying summons won't avoid this kind of accidents happen. so what if 6 summons are not paid?? So what id 100 summons are not paid?? is the authorities doing anything?? if yes, then what is this driver with 6 summons doing on the road?? so is checks by so call authorities. So what. What happen to the crackdown of errant bus drivers?? ITS ALL JUST AN ACT BY THE AUTHORITY TO PLEASE EVERYONE!!! anyway, if interested in more about malaysia bus accidents can refer to here and there is a petition about bus crash no more... i am number 2003
maybe we need another protest march to get some attention...
