cardiomegaly~ (help)

i think i have cardiomegaly. to those non familiar with medical terms.. 'cardio' means heart.. and megaly means 'enlarge' [i think]. its a medical condition where the heart is enlarge or bigger than usual. now, dont worry yet... there is nothing wrong with my heart physically [yet]....

===================================================

when was the last time u drop your lose change to a donation tin after buying your coffee??
when was the last time u hold the bus door open till the last person hops off??
when was the last time u pick up something for some one??
when was the last time u HELP and unknown stranger for directions?
when was the last time you RECEIVE help??
when was the last time you OFFERED to help??

its been awhile i been helping people with their problems. helping from simple tiny stuff.. to kinda major stuff, all i been there. since a young age, moral values of 'helping others' somehow work its way into me which makes part of me now to help others. and recently i found out when ever some1 ask for help, the 1st think that comes across my mind will be, hmm.. how and what is the fastest way to help this person. the things that i can do? and also the 'maybe' situations that could happen. somehow i just got a feeling i put my whole self into helping the someone that ask for it. if u call me up at 4 in the morning and say you need help, or just want to talk or want some1 to listen, i'll gladly do it. no questions ask. of couese, i won't let those task interfere with my daily life, work n classes... but sometimes.. rules can be bend.. depending on situation rite??

"wenqi are you free on...... can you help out for the........."
"on the.............?? yea sure.. how can i help you?? "

i help people because people ask for help. and for people asking for help obviously they need it. Sooo... being train to get task done fast, and learning that things could only be done by using your heart, therefore, when people ask for help, i would quickly get it done with with the best i could. and not complain ( or maybe a little =P) about the hardship to get the task accomplished. putting everything i have, and my free time to get something done, is something i feel good. thou it might cause some trouble here n there, but I'm happy when i help some one out of their worries or problems.

"wenqi, i need your help, urgent!!"
"huh?? relax.. wats up??"

being a person with a 'helpful' heart is in a moral prospective is the optimal outcome. While i am walking around the city, people will approach me for a few dollars to catch a bus, a programed answer of 'i'm sorry, i don't have any' even with my pocket jingling with lose change will come out. after walking away, i always wonder, how will that person get home? should i turn back and give him some money? another situation will be buskers in the city. i must admit they can really entertain people, yet, a self programed action of walking away right after he finishes performing usually takes place. and sometimes, i feel bad for that.

"wenqi, could you please help me to get this in the city later??"
"yeah sure, i'm going down there later anyway.."

helping people isn't as easy as it sounds. small situations like fetching a book or buying lunch doesn't matter me much. yet, being helpful, or over helpful might be viewed as naive, easily being used and whats worse, stupid. yet, i felt that i use lots of help before which i think i deserve to return favours. thinking back, [not that i'm expecting any return here...] i've been helping so many people, that i feel kinda tired now. and i sometimes wonder, is it worth all the effort to do so?? or just pure of a waste of time (and sometimes money)?? being there for a friend, or even go donating blood, might not cost anything or mean anything to many others, but for your own self, the time and energy to perform these task, have anyone ever wondered?? does it mean anything to yourself??

"can you help me inform others about the.........??"
"yah.. consider it done."

There are no unit of measurement in helping someone. we cannot count, things like "i already 'perform' 2 big help and 1 small help today". yet when we agree to help, we should put out our best to finish the task and not hoping for any return. i might feel being use at times, or feel tired on the nights, and maybe even worry that i didn't help enough. maybe i am kind, or just pure naive. sometimes when you help others, people put you down, saying its stupid to do so, or other people will help them and not to trouble yourself. which is kind of true, i am not god or a powerful person where i could help everyone that come asking for it. its sad to turn people down. in fact, i don't like to turn people down but at times, there isn't much i can do.

"hey.. i need the phone number of ........... fast!! "
"ok ok.. give me a sec."

there is a limit to everything including the amout of things i could do in a day. at the end of the day, i really wonder, what made me the 'yes-man??" what made me do all that, what drove me to that level to help some one. isn't it easier to just say, 'oh i'm sorry, i'm pretty busy... i can't help you'. maybe i just give in too easily... or maybe its just me. back to the cardiomegaly, the enlarge 'helping' heart of mine sometimes give me doubts on everything i am doing now.

"thank you very much!!! thanks alot.. really thank you!!!"
"ok ok.. dont thank d...."

the walking orange

'OOoooOOOO for Orange'

the 1st thing that people come across the word orange, will most probably the round bright color fruit which is high in vitamin C, high in fiber and one of the most popular fruit among children that starts with the letter 'O'. other than that, orange also could mean the a color between the mixture of red and yellow. after searching for multiple sites for the meaning of this color, as summary, ORANGE --Happy, courageous, successful, enthusiasm, bold, adventuresome, friendliness, warmth, informality, welcoming, movement, energy etc.

so, why the walking orange??
erm.. i don't really know........

and from this site, the word orange has came up with a new meaning. me. the walking orange a.k.a me, has been really popular now this year among the people here.. which was quite a surprise for me as, well, the walking orange should only be alive through the computer screen. and whats more surprising is, whenever something that is related to the word orange, all fingers will be pointed back to me.

thinking back after being blogging for about 5 years now and having some loyal readers around.. which i was surprise as my blogs are usually LONG and without any nice pictures.. its surprising people still strain their eyes in the page. going back into history, i still couldn't figure out why i named myself orange. anyway, the truth behind me being labeled as a fruit isn't that important anymore. now the walking orange has a constant but tiny flow of readers which keeps me amused where somehow people still come back to my long and wordy site to seek something me myself isn't sure myself. clearly this past time of mine provides me with some entertainment and also keeps my brain from functioning properly during times of total boredom.

orange is the happiest color ~ frank sinatra

blogging was once a place where i crap the hell out as i know not many will read anyway. not much people knows my blog existed and although its not personal, yet i don't promote it and force invite people to visit and drop comments and stuff, yet from time to time, new readers will drop their footprint here, which again, makes me happy. most of the post here are pretty more on life happenings and also the weired thoughts that i have. some might be just a waste of time reading it. last good point i could take my blogging past time would be a place for me to so call improve my english.. but then, my grammar here are pretty screwed anyway..

the walking oranqi~ TC n gang

right, back to the orange story. never near to my expectation where the walking orange has been so well known among my friends till i have been an iconic figure of an orange to them. being nicknamed as 'oranqi' (read as 'oran chi' *i think*) begun after a surprised birthday celebration where i was bath right next to the river (refer big splash 08'). from that day onwards, i was known as, wenqi, the walking orange.. i was actually planing to let the name orange only to be use on the net, but then, somehow, it spread to the real world, nevertheless, it gave joy to a number of people relating orange to me or me to orange.. which ever come into their mind.. its sure weired if people here starts calling me orange.. 'Hey orange, wanna go for a drink??" or, " i'm looking for a... erm.. an Orange.. is he in??" or "may i speak to Orange please??"

this is wenqi the walking orange
oh hello.. err.. orange?
hi.. yea.. orange..

the walking orange has help me to connect with people around the world. i got to know a course mate of mine from malaysia via this site too. n also keeping connected to many others via my updates on life here. its hard to maintain ties with friends especially when all of them is all over the world. and its quite boring telling everyone the same story again and again in different instant messaging windows, therefore this site has help a lot in that case. thou at times, laziness will take over and prevents me from updating but, that usually wont last long.. 1 month the most?? haha the walking orange has been up and running for almost 4 years now, and till now, i cant recall the history of this name, nor i will try. after all, why change a name that suits me well eh??

land below the wind~

december has come to a gentle ending where the year of 2008, there's been lots of changes happening around life here. being staying away from malaysia for almost 10 months, missing contact of malaysian's sun, rain and air but somehow, i don't really miss the food there yet as much as others. maybe i already accepted that i wont be tasting any of them for the next 20 months after i leave the country. after all, cooking my own meals here almost makes it taste like home anyway. somehow i feel that those people that really says they can't find good food in adelaide is kinda over reacting. those that say's adelaide is boring and can't wait to leave here, is also over reacting.

nevertheless, i came from a place where many would say its a 'jungle' yet i am also a frequent traveller back to the pearl of the orient. i would say i experienced what a developed place and underdeveloped place looks like. recently i receive an email that basically tells the story on how the state i grow up in was being marginalised by others. nevertheless, that place thought me that we could make many things out of what we have and the grass is not always greener on the other side. the town i grow up in have no night life, the cinema was only 2 years old, we don't have any shopping complex nor place that sells branded clothes. we have no white beaches or five star hotels or resorts. yet we have an airport big enough to land 737's and is accepting flights from Philippines as well. We also have the one of the few sanctuaries that house the near extinct orang utan. a turtle nesting ground is only a few minutes boat ride from the town im staying.

i remembered that our power supply and water was constantly cut. thought i lived in a terrace house, i experience studying by the candle light and taking bath tru pails of water. i enjoy those moments where we could play with the melted wax and make shapes out of it. i constantly held my laughter silently when i hear people in 'bigger' cities never know how to use a match stick. i stayed in a housing area where in the evenings people will go out to play and jog around the park. there we still see kids chasing each other along the road without worrying about the cars and no over protective parents treating everyone on the road as criminals hiding their child from the sun as have our own security guard on partol every hour around the housing estate. yet we have full access of the Internet, and we also do stuff what other kids in larger cities do with their computers such as playing online games, downloading movies, and not to mention blogging. we have the same internet access as larger cities in my country.. we also have astro services and also those 'large-satellite-dish receivers' operating around. what makes you more advance than us anyway??

i went to a primary school in a building with a huge crack on the floor at the back, predicted to collapse soon, yet the building is still standing today, and the crack is still visible till this very minute. my school don't have a football field, or a big car park, situated next to graveyards and was apparently used as a hospital during the WW2. yet, we love our school very much. we have 7 cubicles for guys and about 8-10 for girls shared by almost 1000+ students. the toilet was only recently given a brighter tiles 4 years ago. 2 of the roads to our school are always at risk of landslide during rainy sessions and the other access is only a 2 lane road which will be pack with school buses and parents cars during the end of the day. given all this circumstances in a city, i wonder if anybody still wants go come to our school to study. yet our school was the best school with the most top scorers in my town at least during my time. many got scholarships and studying overseas in fields such as medicine and engineering.

with all the shortcomings in the town i grew up with, we learn something most of us never had the chance to do so. we learn how to compromise, how to make the best of everything and learn how to give and take from each other. best parts of all, we experience jungle tracking right behind our school, a 6 hour hike from our school to the housing estate I'm living in, which includes real jungle experience without a walking trail, into rivers, and also to go down a 3 story high cliff. this trail was 'open' by our school's scout team. we experience starry nights during blackouts, we experience candle light dinner with family, with the sound of cricket and other insects accompany us and not the sound of the TVB drama behind.

the place i grew up in wasn't the place i was born in. yet i like that place very much. there are so many things to do there. its not that i don't like the pearl of the orient. i love the island very much too, but both have their specialities to be love. for those that says sabah is uncivilised, please check the internet you are so proud of for the real facts. if u see sabah there, u see that we also have access to the internet. just to let you know, people in adelaide knows where is north borneo(sabah) much more better than where is malaysia. and you want to know how i let people know where im from?? 'im a malaysian from north borneo...'

hmm.. im sorry that this sounds like a hate post... =/

bits n pieces of dec

right, exams are over, and the dreadful wait for results are here. i guess, everything should be fine right. sometimes i really wonder, whether wishing each other all the best really make a significant sign in the exam results. is that the more people that wish you 'all the best' would lower the probability of you doing badly in exams?? sound superstitious thou, nevertheless, i guess one wishing another all the best in one of the most stressful situation in life will not bring much harm right?

holidays have begun, and most of my friends are already back in malaysia. saturday night, i was rushing for one of the big projects me and my friends made for other friends. looking back into the project, i realised that i already start to miss them. there are a few that i have been seeing them for the past month almost daily. through the weekly gathering, random beach outings, group studying and so on. well, i've already being prepared that i'm not going back this year, and already have plans for the 3 months break, somehow still can't ignore the fact that i am going to miss them. and guess what, i already miss them already =.=

another thing is, i guess i have no fate in group trips. since form 3, i never join a group trip with my friends, i have no idea why that happens, every year, there are trips planed by my friends, i really wish to go and really love to join them, yet, somehow something prevented me to do so. form 3 was a trip to climb mt kinabalu, form 4 was a camping trip, form 5 *cant remember* 2006, *can't remember* and 2o07 was a KK trip... i guess, im kinda immune to tell people, "oh im sorry i can't join you all.. i (inserts reason). i will join another time okay??" i really wonder whether there is another time. there is also a trip early next year where group of my friends will be going along west malaysia, but i wont be around as well. i guess, i have really no fate on going on trips with my friends. sigh~ nevertheless, i wish they will enjoy themselves and have fun. yet be careful and take care always.

right.. Christmas is here, and parents will be popping over this saturday. so i guess december will be quite occupied. not forgetting the 2 jobs i have in line now. i wonder how im suppose to balance all of them.. hahaha.. well, i guess i will somehow. plans for the holiday?? will be exploring adelaide with my parents, work, drown myself with anime and drama and i guess, maybe learn abit of chinese right?? after all, im a 'semi banana' now.. and should upgrade to a 'one quarter banana' already. hahaha.. till then, short updates from me..

oh, i will be cleaning my blog links soon, so those links that i can't gain access will be.. erm.. 'put aside' so yea, let me know if the links are functioning okay.. *thou i don't think any1 will do so..*

Houseflies~

as spring arrives and temperature hits above 27 degrees, its interesting that there are amazingly plenty of housefly flying around in adeaide. and interestingly as well, these houseflies are just like thermometers.. if the temperature is below 25 degrees, you wont even see one of them around and if temperature increases, the hotter it goes, the more housefly there are. these houseflies are basically irritating, stupid and erm... slow. nevertheless, they are all really irritating if they keep flying around you. EVEN when you get a nice shower and you smell like a garden of flowers they will still fly to you.

looking at the number of housefly around, you will notice men and women practicing all kinds of methods to swap them away... below are the list that kinda exist

Thousand Arms Buddha Housefly Shield
Although there are only 2 arms in every human, if there are a large number of housefly this method is highly recommended. by moving your arms randomly in a very fast motion, in all directions, you can almost swap all the houseflies away into your surroundings. not only houseflies, all other movable living organisms especially humans will also move away in fear of this highly specialize martial art. this thousand arms buddha housefly shield also can be use if you only have one arm that is free. just move the free arm twice as fast and twice as random to have the same effect.

Tai Chi Housefly Kung-fu
a slow and gracious yet lethal to housefly move which usually guarantee peace from houseflies. usually most effective if there is only one housefly around. by moving your hand gracefully and slowly near to the housefly and with a sudden increase speed and power, whack the housefly away. this usually causes the housefly to lose the flight path and hit to something solid and fall to the floor. effective when you are sitting in a fix position and by hitting the housefly to the near by wall or table, it will for sure not disturb you for the 2nd time. Or, if you have mastered this kung fu, you can aim the housefly at someone near by and hit it across the room into another person's face. practice needed for aim and accuracy.

The Venous Fly Trap.
by the name, its quite similar to the carnivorous plant where a trap is laid to trap/kill the housefly. so what kind of trap can be laid?? well, these trap (like the venous fly trap) must have a hinge that allow 2 surfaces to contact in the middle. my recommendation is a book.. a think hard cover book. open the book at about middle... and hold it right in front of you with a hand on each side of the cover.. once a housefly flies over the page.... SNAP~ and you will have a dead housefly with you in that page. *warning* flatten houseflies produce lots of 'juices' so.. beware. recommended that you have lots of patients and a moderate number of houseflies around. library books are recomended (since its not your book anyway =x)

Chemical Warfare
this method is more of a preventative measure than to kill itself. basically we will be using chemicals to prevent houseflies to get around us. and we are going to use chemicals that could be easily bought over the counter. Insect repellents have been proven functional in preventing house flies from attaching on your clothes and skin. just spray some on to the clothes or apply them to the skin and you could walk freely without being bothered by those flies. the good side is, others wont think you are crazy waving your hands around the street, but, on the other side, if you are going to a date, or an important meeting, try not to use this method as it also carries a strong insect repellent smell along. and depending on the type n brand you use, usually it last about 2 to 3 hours depending on conditions. recommended right before going out of the house on a very warm day.

The Blow Fish Method.
this method is recommended when you have your hands full. as houseflies are small animals, they are easily being blown away by a small amount of air. this method allows you to remove the housefly quite easily. if you see a housefly flying around, and land on your nose, shape your lips and blow a short and strong gust of air towards it. this can also be if the housefly landed on other parts of the body (hands, lips, maybe forehead) or also on places like your notes and your coffee mug. just aim and blow towards the housefly and the housefly will be gone~ if you are good, you can also blow the housefly off course mid air *training needed*. recommended for a small amount of housefly and only for people with a large lung capacity. not recommend for those with respiratory disorders.

there are a few more not so popular methods around, but strongly recomended these 5 methods above.. have fun trying =)

disclaimer note: writer will not be responsible for any injuries/accidents/anything-bad-happen to users of the methods describe above.

p/s: no houseflies are harm in the production of this post.
