in the eyes of photography...

they say pictures tells a thousand words, and with a photograph, the memories will be preserved. being experience a job of a photography for 3 days and 2 nights, other than 1st aid guy, guide, angel, PA, loud speaker, attention seeker, , etc etc.., made me realise, we are missing a lot in our life.

camera checked, battery.. full power.. memory card, reformat.. hmm what else??
crap.. my card reader!!!

of course the job of the photographer is to take photos.. but what photos should be taken?? is it the photos of himself/herself, or the photos of others?? or photos that shows a special moment, happy moments or sad?? the cheerful ones?? the tired ones?? how bout the ugly ones?? with the wonders of technology, i think i manage to cover most of them.. or at least a few of them. this job made me realise, photos really bring joy to many people around. though taking photoes means i cannot join many of their activities, their games, dances and all, but, looking at everyone enjoying all the activities through the screen of my camera is fulfilling enough for me.

"can i take a picture of you please????"
"err.. yea... "(sets up tripod and camera)
"ok.. now press this... "
[press button]
"yay!! can i see can i see can i seeeeeeeee?????"

photos that are taken only come once and once only, when the moment pass, the memories will be gone forever. for here, i am grateful that there are other photographers that helped me to cover the whole event. thou i know and understand that photographers have to be there the whole time as these special moments will not repeat it self, but a photographer cant cover the whole event himself and for that he is grateful that there are many others that helped him capture these special moments.

"ok.. everyone please look here.... "
[no one looks...]
"everyone look here.. "[abit louder]
[no one looks]
"fine...."
*snap*
"oh man.. this ugly pic is so going to be public!!!"
*grins*

i admit that always being there on every activity is not an easy job physically and mentally. and i admit that i under expected the job of a photographer before the camp. i didn't know i had to do so much running and screaming around. finding the best angle, brightness and of course the best looking people in the camp... hehehe. also must make sure i got everyone in action in camp right?? if not people will say i am unfair. Nevertheless, however bad my job describtion is, i enjoy myself, a lot.

"do you want to tell him whats the bear's name??"
"yes"
"okay... go tell him what is the name of the bear"
"whats the name of the bear??"
"susan"
"oh.. hello susan.."

like always, in camps the free times are the most memorable ones, especially when this is a kids camp. sometimes its so so nice and touching to see kids being so innocent to other youths. as all youth members are allocated a child to be taken care and also being a guardian angle to another. taking care of a kid isn't easy i must say. thou i have previous experience being a tutor to primary kids, but this is slightly different. what i enjoyed most is to see the kids play and enjoy themselves while the youth is busy with their own stuff. the selfless-ness of the kids is beyond comments. i seen kids serving a cup of water to their guardian hugging their guardians tightly as if they the kid knows the guardian since birth, and many many more..

"i smack you then u know
"HEY DON'T SMACK MY GUARDIAN"
"whalao... im your teacher ok..."
"HE IS MY GUARDIAN!!!"

of course preparing for a big event like this takes lots of effort and time. personally i know many that are involve working behind the scene in preparing the event. i know they spend so much time and energy in the camp, i also know they complain a lot.. haha.. these people working tirelessly behind the screens deserves the biggest hugs and the loudest claps. they not only do their parts, but also cover work of other groups as well. not only that, they spend quality time with the kids in the camp too. with this people, i greatly respect and salute to you guys.. great job. if you are wondering that whether the kids will remember you, trust me, they will. as a photographer, i seen the hard job done by many people. those that did the booklet, those that prepare for the dharma classes and also those that prepare for the games. for those that spend time with the kids, those that do beyond what they are suppose to do and many more.. they spend so much time just for the kids... i am kind of touch that there are still caring people around. seriously i am.

"Wenqi!!! i want to see the pictures!!!"
"sure.. here.. use my computer"
"OMG... this is so ugly... DELETE!!!"
"hahahhaha.... no.. cannot delete!!!"
"put it in facebook!!!!! muahahhaha"

we have only 2 eyes and only see things one at the time, our minds are not perfect as we will forget our past. with these photographs, not only the memory will be preserved, we could also see many other things that we missed at that particular time. when the moon is shining, and the kids are sleeping, sitting next to my trusted compaq, i looked through all the pictures taken on that day, thinking back, if anyone will appriciate al the pictures taken. at least for sure i am, that i myself have lock the memories of the day right into the camera. the only wish i have is that i wished i spend more time with the kids and not with the camera.

Oh..Wen Qi, once agains I would like to said " Thanks for being our photographer".

As I said to u last time b4 go into the camp, ur position is such important to captures every precious moments.

Bcoz nobody able to remember everything once the time pass by, only the pictures taken tells the story and recall people mind and shown the things they have gone thru, or even others scene they had missed out.

I am glad to see that u enjoyed a lot too with ur position.
